NCAEP Credit Recovery Program


The primary mission of the NCAEP Credit Recovery program is to assist students who have fallen behind in earning the credits necessary to graduate.

Credit Recovery is a non-traditional program where classes are offered on a quarter-system schedule. This allows a student to earn credits at an individualized pace, and in a different sequential order than at a traditional high school. However, because of the individualized nature of the program, a higher standard of attendance and discipline is required.

Students are admitted to Credit Recovery by administrator recommendation, an application and interview process. This process is used to determine a student’s motivation for catching up and continuing toward earning their diploma.  Credit Recovery accepts at-risk juniors, seniors, and students ages sixteen to nineteen.  Seniors, at risk of not graduating, maintain the highest priority.  Students and parents must work with their high school counselor in determining the best educational plan and by making a commitment to graduation requirements.  Students new in a district are eligible for credit recovery after one grading period.  Consideration of acceptance into this program is on an individual basis.  The following conditions merit review and possible acceptance into the program:

  • Student is a teen parent

  • Medical condition

  • Death or tragedy involving family

  • Counseling or rehab participation

  • Necessity of a full time job

After completion of diagnostic screening, students will master core curriculum content determined with a 90% mastery.

Students entering Credit Recovery must agree to the guidelines set forth below. If the guidelines are not followed, a review committee meeting consisting of principals, counselors, student, and parents will be held.


DRESS CODE: The Credit Recovery program follows the published Rice ISD dress code.

Upon arrival pockets must be empty, no money, cell phones, wallets, trinkets, jewelry may be brought on campus.   All students:  

  • Students are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather and classroom temperature; therefore, they may wear a plain white or gray sweatshirt with no hood, zippers, or pockets over their shirt.

  • Clothing will be neat with no rips, holes, dragging, or torn bottoms.

  • Pants must be worn appropriately at the waist.

  • Will not wear sweat pants or wind pants.

  • Clothing will cover the entire torso and the shirt will be tucked in so that the belt is revealed at all times.  No V-neck shirts.

  • Will not have exposed tattoos, hickeys, body marking, or scaring.                           

  • **No gages or ear-stretching devices may be worn.**

  • Will not wear see-through or form fitting clothes (skinny jeans).

  • Will wear shoes laced appropriately.  All shoes must be closed-toe.

NO sandals, slides, flip flops, house shoes, or boots (Uggs, etc.).

  • Boys will follow home campus guidelines for facial grooming.

  • Hair designs cut, shaved, gelled, or shaped into the hair are prohibited


All students shall be dressed according to the dress code from the time they board the bus in the morning until they leave in the afternoon. Braids may be worn straight back only.  Any clothing, grooming style, or accessory deemed inappropriate by the Principal will not be permitted.

As you know, being clean is a part of being healthy, therefore:

If the principal determines that a student’s hygiene, grooming, or clothing violates the school’s dress code, the student will be given an opportunity to correct the problem. If not corrected, the student may be suspended until the problem is corrected, or until a parent or designee has a conference with the campus principal.
