NCAEP MISSION

The Alternative Education Program is committed to the belief that all children can learn and inappropriate behavior can be modified. Self-control, citizenship, economic responsibilities, and appreciation of our American heritage including its multi-cultural richness will be emphasized.

The Alternative Education Program provides curriculum and counseling for the needs of students with disciplinary problems through behavior modification. Through a system of intervention strategies, students are provided opportunities to increase self-esteem, self-control, develop a positive attitude, and make the necessary behavioral adjustments required for return to their home campus.

The primary focus of the AEP is to help students change their inappropriate behaviors for which they were placed, identify triggers for their behavior, and develop methods of avoiding problem situations in the future.

The secondary focus will be the completion of assigned academic work.

A general education student may be assigned to the AEP by the Principal of his/her home campus. The referring Principal will notify the AEP and schedule an intake meeting to ensure a proper transition. All students are required to attend the intake session with a parent prior to admission to AEP.A special education student may be assigned to the AEP by the ARD committee. The ARD may be held within a suspension period.
