Assistant Principal's Page

would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to a new school year and introduce myself.  I am Jeff Horn and I am blessed to be serving in the capacity of Assistant Principal at Rice High School. I was born and raised in Southeast Texas in a town of 8,000 people. I was raised with small town values which I still hold close to my heart today. In fact, you will likely notice a southern drawl when I speak, a characteristic I attribute to the country living I grew up with.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree from East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, TX where I graduated with a double major in Religion and Behavioral Sciences. Later in life, when I decided to become a school teacher, I earned my Secondary Education certification from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX. After teaching high school Spanish and Business for four years, I returned to college and graduated with a Master of Education degree in Counseling and Development from Lamar University in Beaumont, TX. I worked as a high school counselor for ten years before earning my Principal certification through the Region 11 Education Service Center’s Alliance for Educational Leadership alternative certification program in Fort Worth, TX. As a school administrator, I have worked at both the campus level and central office level in Dallas and Grand Prairie. During this time, I enrolled at Texas A&M University—Commerce where I earned my Doctor of Education degree in Educational Administration with a Superintendency minor. I am in my 20th year in education and sixth as an administrator and am thrilled to be working with such an awesome group of teachers and students this year.
